Billboard Dance Music Summit - Night #1 Club New York The opening night party for the first Billboard Dance Music Summit held in New York City was hosted by Club New York (252 W 43rd St) and was sponsored by Billboard, Def Mix Productions, Definity Records, and For The Record. DJ's for the evening included Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Peter Rauhofer, Joey Negro, Stoshi Tomiie, Bobby D'Ambrosio, Lord G. and Tedd Patterson. The evening kicked off with a live performance by Wamdue Project. Their lead female vocalist was anything but spectacular, but things got a little better as the band played "King of My Castle" which was sung by the lead male. It was billed as a live performance, but most of the teeth vibrating sound came from a sound module that was played DJ style. Things got considerably better as the grand diva of them all, Martha Wash, took the stage with her live band. Performing three tracks that included "Carry On" and finished with her latest hit "Listen To The People" (See Review), Martha wowed the audience with her vocal gymnastics. |

| Overall
the evening was great fun. Everyone seemed to give their all in their performances, and
the evening went down without a hitch. Located in the heart of New York's theatre district just off of Times Square, Club New York was adequately set up for the evening with a fairly large stage at the center of the dance floor. The performances were finished by 1 am, at which point the DJ's took over the club. A good time was had by all! |
